WELCOME TO THE KOMA VILLAGE
The trekking to the Atlantika Mountains offers to the travelers a unique opportunity to come across the Koma culture. There is a spiritual connection between the Komas and their environment suitable for their animistic practices. Some 300 years ago, they found refuge in the mountains to escape from slavery and to protect and preserve their culture. They succeeded through the century to keep their traditions alive despite of the various influences of the modern world. Their lifestyle appears as a real challenge for the so called modern civilization. The visit to the Koma is nothing else but an initiatic itinerary which brings back the stranger or the visitor to his origins. Such experience affects all the time my vision of the world, whenever going there and puts the concept of modernity in the 21st century in brackets.
