Tours
The Golden Circle is for everyone, whether you are young or old. On this trip you can experience all the best that Iceland has to offer, everything between the mountains and the sea: glacial rivers, beautiful landscapes, wild scenery and two of our most famous places of course, Gullfoss and Geysir.
We go on a tour of history of our most loved place, Þingvellir, where as a nation, we took our first steps on the way to independence. You find out how Iceland was born and how it is still growing geologically. We will also show you many other natural wonders such as the implosion crater Kerið and the waterfall at Faxi.
Iceland Guided Tours hope that you will really enjoy your trip and acquire great memories from Iceland that you can share with your friends and family when you get back home.

The South coast of Iceland has so much to offer you. We start by driving south on Highway 1. We explain to you the geology of Iceland and show you many of the amazing and exciting places that have emerged in Iceland in both the past and present.
We visit Hellisheiði power plant and introduce to you how we use the energy under our feet to warm our houses. We discuss the culture of Iceland, sharing the folklore and the stories about elves and trolls that the Icelandic people have held in their hearts for centuries.
We stop and look at the magnificent waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, you come into contact with Iceland’s most famous volcanic glacier Eyjafjallajökull that erupted just last summer pouring ash and mud over the farming communities that crouch in the shadow of this great giant. In the small town of Vik we take a longer stop and get a good lunch and a visit to the local wool shop before we head back, following the coastline and drive to a beautiful black sandy beach called Reynisfjara.
There we can get close to the basaltic rock pillars that you saw from you lunch table at Vik, and there too you can also see the power that the sea has on the land and the fabulous prints it leaves on the landscape. Next we visit Dyrhólaey which is home for several thousand puffins who come here each summer to breed. We hear how the island got its name and get to know the story behind the lighthouse that stands there. (Dyrhólaey is subject to preservation during a part of the year, then this stop is no longer available)
After we have absorbed this beautiful coastal scenery and taken lots of photographs we head out towards the glacier Sólheimajökull. We drive right up to the glacier’s edge and get to touch it and to hear all about the wonders of our dynamic world that have helped to create such a special place.
After a full day it is time to return to Reykjavik, taking with us beautiful images and memories from the south coast of Iceland, a place that perhaps you will visit again one day.

This tour takes us along the beautiful south coast of Iceland to the amazing Glacial Lagoon, Jokulsarlon. On our way, we will drive alongside of Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull glaciers. We will pass charming villages of Vik and Kirkjubaejarklaustur as well as Skaftafell National Park and we will visit Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. Just before we reach the lagoon we will pass Iceland’s biggest volcano, Oraefajokull glacier which has the highest peak of the island, Hvannadalshnjukur (2110 m). After we arrive at the lagoon we have some time to view this stunning area before we take a boat tour on the lagoon. The boat which takes us is capable to driving short distances on land and sail on the water. Jokulsarlon started to form in the early 1920´es and is getting bigger every year. You will see many amazing blocks of ice that have broken from Europe’s biggest glacier, Vatnajokull and they sail slowly towards the ocean which is only a kilometer away. After a refreshing boat tour on the glacial lagoon, we head back to Reykjavik.

The Snæfellsnes National Park is one of our many natural and beautiful attractions and one that is often missed by visitors to Iceland. On this tour, we drive northwards from the capital through Hvalfjörður (Whale bay) where we find the first road tunnel made under the sea in Iceland. We drive on to the town of Borgarnes, our first stop. This is the place that the Icelandic people have used for centuries as a resting stop and was an important trading post in earlier years. As we drive on along the peninsular, you will learn all about the fascinating geology of Snæfellsnes and will probably hear some of the fun stories and folklore that have passed down from generation to generation. After a walk and refreshments at Arnarstapi we drive up to a small settlement. The few houses here sit in a little cluster sheltering away from the elements in this beautiful place called Hellnar, a place that is now largely abandoned but in all probability it can trace its function as a major port back to the Middle Ages. The oldest written source of Hellnar described as a fishing port dates back to 1560. From Hellnar we drive along the coast until we come to a little fishing village called Hellissandur, and here we get the chance to visit the old fisherman’s museum, and to take in the beautiful landscape and the fresh ocean air. Now we are getting closer to the last village on our tour, the little town of Ólafsvík, from there we drive to Grundarfjörður, a town that cuddles up against the mountain side. After travelling all around the Snæfellsnes National Park you will have had the chance to see many historical sites and to photograph the varied scenery and settlements on the peninsular. After a full day and with so many memories it is time to head back to Reykjavik.
