NAIROBI TOUR VISITING THE GIRAFFE CENTER, DAVID SHELDRICK ELEPHANT TRUST AND THE BOMAS OF KENYA.
Giraffe Center in Nairobi’s Langata Suburb, which is the creation of Kenyan conservation organization – the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya) The purpose of this center is to educate Kenyans about the country’s wildlife and environment, and to give local and international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with a wild animal, by feeding the world’s tallest species – the giraffe! It is one of the most exciting experiences you will ever have!
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust – which is situated on the edge of the Nairobi National Park.
The Trust is headquartered in Tsavo National Park, which is Kenya’s largest wildlife refuge, harboring the country’s single largest population of elephants. It is also the pioneer of Kenya’s very effective conservation strategy to retrieve the highly endangered Black Rhino from extinction.
Bomas of Kenya- A boma means a homestead , just a few kilometers from the city centre, numerous homesteads reflecting kenya’s cocktail of cultures have been faithfully recreated for visitors to see traditional village life. Lake Nakuru is set in a picturesque landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland next to Nakuru town. The lake catchment is bounded by Menengai crater to the north, the Bahati hills to the north east, the lion hill ranges to the east, eburu crater to the south and the mau escarpment to the west. Three major rivers, the njoro, makalia and enderit drain into the lake, together with treated water from the town's sewage works and the outflow from several springs along the shore. The Journey to Nakuru is full of awe and wOnder the great rift valley offers magical landscapes and views.

The Maasai Ostrich Farm in Kitengela is a lovely serene place adorned by bamboo plantings, flowers and smooth lawns and 30minutes from JKIA. It is also a unique get-away that has the ostrich theme dominating every part of the hotel. It is amazing to realise that the cream coloured lamp shades are made from the shell of the ostrich egg. You can also purchase the eggshells and other ostrich products at reasonable prices.
Talking of eggs, did you know that it will take you two, yes, two hours to boil an ostrich egg to perfection? Did you know too that you need a medium sized sufuria to beat one egg and an extra large pan to fry one ostrich egg? This translates to using the cooking pan that can cater for a meal of five adults, simply for beating the egg. One ostrich egg is an equivalent of twelve chicken eggs!
This i a great tour for those in transit and on stop-over at Jomo kenyatta International Airport.
