Kathmandu Valley harbors famous examples of Hindu and Buddhist temples, and Newari architecture. The monuments included under the wing of the Kathmandu-valley are: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Changu Narayan, Syambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath Stupa.
The Kathmandu valley boasts of a considerably high number of cultural sites recognized by UNESCO as the World Heritage Sites. All these sites in the Kathmandu Valley are related to the spiritual traditions practiced in the region. The valley blends different culture and lifestyle practiced in the region in its own way. The thousands of temples, stupas, pagodas and monuments inside the valley have made Kathmandu famous in the world as the City of Temples. The mountains encircling the valley surround three medieval cities - Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. Each city inside the valley has an artistic exposition of graceful temples, elegant palaces, brick-paved courtyards and quaint streets. Besides the three cities, there are also a number of other important sites in the periphery of the mountains. In this trip, we make a tour of some of the most important as well as interesting cultural and natural landscapes of Kathmandu Valley.
Day 01 KTM Sightseeing Tour: -Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhu, Boudhanath after breakfast, we start a guided tour to four of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the palaces of the medieval Kings who ruled over the then Kathmandu Kingdom. Pashupatinath houses a sacred lingum, or the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. The Buddhists shrine of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world, and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage and tourist destinations in Kathmandu. Swayambhu meaning the ''the self-existent'' is popular among the foreigners as the Monkey Temple owing to the large number of monkey population residing in the area.
Day 02 Sightseeing Tour:-Patan & Bhaktapur We start our tour of two more UNESCO World Heritage Site cities adjacent to Kathmandu: Patan & Bhaktapur. Patan is also known as The City of Fine Arts. Patan Durbar Square is one of the places in the Kathmandu Valley where the medieval arts and architecture still remain in its original state. The Durbar Square is full of ancient places, temples and shrines, noted for their exquisite carvings, mostly the Hindu and Buddhist monuments. Similarly, the medieval town of Bhaktapur, or the Town of the Devotees, preserves medieval arts, architecture, culture, and lifestyle to this date. One is sure to feel like traveling back into the past while walking along the Bhaktapur thoroughfares, squares and street.
