Guided tour #3: Lisbon : Gastronomy and Wines

Duration : 5 hours
Level : easy Easy
If you want to experience Portuguese cuisine and wine by preparing it yourself this is for you !

Available exclusively for private groups of up to 10 persons. Perfect for a shore excursion on a stop over during your cruise or just an evening with friends before leaving Portugal.

We will shop for the ingredients for the evening meal at Lisbon's Farmers Market in the morning. Learn all about Portuguese cuisine, characterized by its use of fresh ingredients like fish, shellfish and vegetables; its world class olive oils, cheeses and cured hams; and its tantalizing desserts (the Portuguese have a major sweet tooth!).

Depending on the days availability at the Lisbon Market, you might prepare a traditional meal like Ameijoas à Bulhão Pato (steamed clams with garlic, cilantro and white wine) followed by a fish stew (“Caldeirada) or Baked Codfish with Garlic and Olive Oil. Accompanying your meal will be a choice of several exceptional Portuguese wines. Top this all of with a great desert supplied by the restaurant owner and you will have spent an evening with the intimacy of your friends and take home a Portuguese recipe to dazzle your friends.

The price per person is 75.00 euros which includes EVERYTHING with no hidden costs.

Please contact us for information on days and times of availability. We require at a minimum 2 days advance reservations.

note: the tour requires a minimum of 2 persons and is limited to 10.

We were two bestfriends on an eat-pray-love kind of get-away. Normally independent travelers, we decided to “splurge” on a private guide as part of the pampering. It turned out to be the best, most sensible decision made. Our 10 ten days in Portugal with Greg was simply magical. Greg was like a favorite cousin meeting us in the airport and taking care of us until we had to go home. He lite... Read more...

I spent 3 wonderful days in Lisbon with Greg. We went everywhere, saw everything and ate at the most wonderful restaurants where Greg knew the owners. They would bring out the fresh catch of the day, and we got to choose our favorite. I never felt pressured, rushed or harried. We moved at my leisurely pace and yet got to do so much and to see so much. Greg was always on time and a delight as ... Read more...

All reviewsGreg brought history to life with his encyclopaedic knowledge of such a fascinating country with all the added stories that make the ‘learning’ so interesting. I have been going through his trip notes and realising that we could easily have spent twice the time and still not seen it all.

I still marvel at how he came up with such interesting people for us to meet along the way. The Mattos wine... Read more...

I have a particular interest in the history of Spain and Portugal and contacted Greg with a request to visit the homeland of the Spanish conquistadors in western Spain. We travelled over 3-4 days to interesting but less well known parts of Spain such as Medellin (home of Hernan Cortes), Caceres (the old city was fantastic--although the city had changed the roads and our GPS kept us circling aroun...
