Saloum (in the day)
A good occasion to discover authentic Senegal, we could travel up and down and meet Pulaar and Sereer people. Then, we will visit a school and will go for a stroll in a dugout canoe in the Sine Saloum delta up to the birds island through bolongs and we will go for a nice picnic.
(Grilled fish, seasonal fruits in the shade of a Mango tree

A three day trip
Day 1:Hotel Saly/ Saint-Louis
We take departure from Somone to Saint-Louis. We will have some minutes break for breakfast in a Tangana (small restaurant where breakfast is served). Later on, we will have lunch in a typical Saint-Louisian restaurant before going to the hotel. There will be a visit of the town by horse drawn carriage just to enable you to see the different streets ad remains of the former capital city of Senegal. After that we will have diner and we will spend the night besides the sea.
Day 2: Saint-Louis – Langue de Barbarie parc
After taking breakfast, we will go straight to Langue de Barbarie park by dugout canoe, rise to the Senegal river mouth and discover the birds island, where a great number of birds live. We will also have lunch with a Senegalese family before heading to Lompoul desert and have a charming bivouac in an oasis in the middle of Dunes.
Besides, you can have a dromedary stroll just to admire an awesome setting sun through sand dunes with Djembé animation. At the end have an overnight stay at Lompoul.
Day 3: Lompoul – Hotel saly
After lunch, we will travel to Saly, but on our way, we will stop and visit the making of shoes in Ngaye, the market place where spices are sold and the craftsmen village in Thiès (pottery, basket work, and shoe making and weaving)
You will go back to your hotel at the end of the day.
Fare: depending on the number of person (car, carriage stroll and dugout canoe, dromedary stroll, ticket for the park, meal and accommodation)

The arrival of fishermen in Mbour (beginning or end of the day)
This is the best moment to discover the richness of the ocean and make an immersion in the Senegalese daily life. You could also see the large number of fish of all colors and shape: carongue badeche and sardine.
Sea bass reserved to Europeans markets: shark fin intended to Asia, noble grilled or stocked fishes for local consumption of surrounding countries.
This time is chosen by the population to do their shopping in the market where vegetables and spices are sold.

Joal-Fadiouth (half a day) is also called ‘the Seashells Island’ or ‘l’Iles aux coquillages’. Surely, it is the most beautiful town in the small coast of Senegal. Fadiouth is an island with seashells on the ground made by inhabitants for centuries. It is linked to Joal by an eight-hundred-meters wood bridge. Joal is the place where the first president of Senegal Leopold Sedar Senghor lives. Afterwards, we will go for a walk around the village, because no car is admitted there. This island is composed of eighty percent (80%) of Catholics.

Read more...
