Guided tour #1: Barcelona Old Town Walking Tour

Duration : 1 day
Level : easy Easy
Ciutat Vella is the oldest part of Barcelona, dating back to the Roman Barcino and the Medieval Barcinova. The origin of today’s Barcelona is the Roman settlement of Colonia Julia Augusta Faventia Paterna Barcino that dates back to the 2nd century AD and had a population of two thousand people. Remnants of the original city can be found in Ciutat Vella. The medieval walls that surrounded this part of the city were destroyed in the 19th century.

A tour of Ciutat Vella includes:

The Roman remains in the city.
The Barri Gòtic. The largest and best conserved in Europe.
The Rivera neighbourhood. Home to fisherman in medieval times and location of the church Santa María del Mar.
The Rambla. A long boulevard that connects the heart of the city to the port.
The Raval. A cosmopolitan neighbourhood with a rich history that includes the Medieval Santa Cruz hospital and the Roman San Pablo en el Campo.

Guided tour #2: Modernist Barcelona

Duration : 1 day
Level : easy Easy
The widening of the city with the construction of the Eixample began in 1860 after the destruction of the medieval city walls. Ildefonso Cerdá designed the Plan Cerdá, giving Barcelona its grid system for which it is now characterized.

The development of the Eixample coincides with the Modernist movement at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Many of the buildings in this part of the city are magnificent examples of modernism.

Antoni Guadí i Cornet stands out as one of the city’s best-known architects. His buildings include:
La Sagrada Familia
La Casa Batlló
La Casa Milà , or la “Pedrera”
The Parc Güell
The Güell Palace

But our modernist legacy also includes other names like Josep Puig i Cadafalch, Lluis Domènech i Montaner, Enric Saigner, Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusiñol, the Llimona brothers…
Some of the best examples of painting, sculpture and decorative art can be seen in the National Museum of Catalonia MNAC and the Museum of Catalan Modernism.

This is a PRIVATE TOUR FOR YOUR PARTY ONLY: You are not part of a larger group.
